Academic Services Committee Cultural Enrichment Policies

  1. No program will be made available for CE credit without approval by the Director of Collegiate Enrichment.
  2. Each Collegiate Enrichment program must be sponsored by a member of the LaGrange College faculty.
  3. The program must be available to, and advertised sufficiently in advance to, all LaGrange College students, though obviously all programs are “targeted” to some extent to particular subgroups.
  4. The program must have a definite starting and ending time, and a format where students comprise an audience for at least forty-five minutes. “Walk-around” type programs, or programs where students can come and go as they please, will be awarded credit on a case-by-case basis.
  5. Collegiate Enrichment (aka, Cultural Enrichment) includes events (presentations, performances, and lectures) that bring scholarly or artistic value to the college community but also includes events that enhance the overall experience of every LC student.
  6. Student presentations such as recitals, senior thesis presentations, etc. will be considered for collegiate enrichment credit as long as they meet all the other criteria and are recommended by the appropriate department chair.
  7. The sponsoring faculty member agrees to assume responsibility for all logistical arrangements, including room accommodations, publicity, and scanning if necessary. In the event of a program change or cancellation, it is the responsibility of the program sponsor to notify the community.
  8. Students may receive only one CE credit for an event with multiple performances or presentations (e.g. a play).
  9. Students will not be awarded CE credit for cancelled or errantly advertised programs.
  10. Apart from special programs sponsored by the administration, LC faculty members will not be paid for presenting Collegiate Enrichment programs.
  11. For students who are coping with extreme medical conditions, the Collegiate Enrichment Director will consider petitions for a reduction in the number of CE credits required for graduation.
